Amanda and Jake’s wedding at The Commons 1854 was the perfect mix of intimate and lively—a day filled with love, laughter, and sweet surprises. They shared their special day with about 20 of their closest family and friends during a heartfelt ceremony, followed by a larger celebration with 75 guests at the cocktail hour and reception. It was a day that perfectly reflected their love story and the journey that brought them to this moment.
Amanda and Jake’s story is one that could only happen in the unique landscape of 2020—a world where virtual meetups and digital connections became the norm. Here’s how they describe it:
“The year is 2020 – in a world turned upside down we were able to discover each other through a dating app (how millennial). We met virtually via Animal Crossing New Horizon’s for our first date. Then continued to “meet up” with watch parties of The Boys and The Mandalorian. Finally we met up in person for a rainy date of homemade Mai Tai’s and Tacos (not homemade). He was so nervous he didn’t realize he let the rain soak my shoulder. I was smitten.
We continued to navigate the unusual feat of dating during a pandemic – lots of movie nights at home with take-out. Then things happened in a blur – we moved in together, got a dog, had trips to meet parents and then even got to go to the movies and restaurants!
Then, on a magical vacation to the island of Oahu Jacob proposed, and of course I said yes! Now we are excited to celebrate our marriage with those we love the most.”
The day began with an intimate ceremony at The Commons 1854, surrounded by 20 of their closest family and friends. The historic venue, with its classic New England charm, was the perfect backdrop for this special moment. Amanda and Jake’s vows were filled with emotion, as they reflected on their journey—from virtual dates to real-life adventures, culminating in this beautiful day.
After the ceremony, the rest of their guests—about 75 friends and family members—joined in for the cocktail hour and reception. The Commons 1854 provided the perfect setting for a relaxed yet elegant celebration. The atmosphere was full of joy as guests mingled, shared stories, and enjoyed the evening’s festivities.
One of the highlights of the night was the dessert—a delicious spread of some of the best gelato. It was a sweet ending to a perfect meal and added a fun, personal touch to the evening. But the surprises didn’t stop there! Amanda, ever the life of the party, had one last trick up her sleeve. She changed into a chic party dress and hit the dance floor, ready to celebrate the night away with her guests.
Amanda and Jake’s wedding was a celebration not just of their love, but of the journey that brought them here. From their unique beginnings during a time of uncertainty to the joy and excitement of their wedding day, their story is a beautiful reminder that love can thrive in even the most unexpected circumstances.
It was an honor to capture their day at The Commons 1854—a day filled with laughter, heartfelt moments, and unforgettable memories. Congratulations to Amanda and Jake!
