From their first date to their engagement and now their wedding, beer has always been a main character in their love story. So when they started planning their destination wedding to Boston, Melanie and Tim knew they wanted to celebrate not only their love for each other, but also their love for beer. They rented a bus to transport all of their wedding guests and drove to Treehouse Brewery in Sandwich for their ceremony & cocktail hour, and then back to Trillium Brewery in Seaport District for their reception and dinner. The entire time they were surrounded by their closest friends and family and enjoying some of the best craft beers New England has to offer.
From the Couple: “We met each other through work. Around the Fourth of July weekend I was traveling with my dog home to visit my dad in CT and needed to submit our companies payroll, but was missing a few timesheets from a manager. I had reached out to Tim to see if he could help out and sign off on a few employee timesheet. He was able to help me out and I was able to submit everything on time, I stated I owed him a drink.
We technically can’t really recall what our first date would be, but the first time we hung out together was about two weeks after on July 15th of 2018. Our ERP system we use for work actually went down that day and Tim asked if we could grab a drink that evening. We ended up at three places that are extremely geared towards beer, Cigar City, World of Beer, and Debine Brewing.
The rest then I guess is history. He probably can tell our proposal story better because he pivoted multiple times. He was originally going to try to get up on stage or figure some way to propose during a Mat Kearney concert in Asheville, but the ring didn’t come in time.
Then a few months later, ring in hand, he was going to propose on the top of the white mountains (mount Washington) after hiking up the mountain, took four hours to hike four miles. The weather was terrible, rainy and foggy so there was no way it would happen there. We did carry on our backpack a bottle of wine, meats, cheese and crackers to enjoy at the top.
That night at the Trillium location in Canton, he was going to propose then but it was still rainy and crumby weather. The next day we were leaving Boston so we went to Trillium Fort Point (our reception location) had lunch there and on our way out as it finally cleared up, he stopped me right outside of the brewery and said “I’m just going to do this” and proposed. It will be about 1 year and two days that we will be married at the same place we got engaged at.”
