Salem is a small gorgeous city to get married in. Whether you and your partner are holding a traditional wedding, eloping, or having a courthouse ceremony – Salem MA might be the perfect city for you! As a predominantly tourist city, Salem has many unique hotels to stay in, elevating your entire wedding weekend. Some hotels even offer wedding packages where you can hold the ceremony and reception. In this blog we will discuss some of the best Salem MA wedding hotels.
The Hotel Salem remains, to this day, one of my favorite hotels to ever work at, not just in Salem. It is decorated so uniquely that I haven’t seen a space like it. The rooms are decorated very bright and modern with a dark, elegant edge. Plus their tall ceilings are so tall it helps make the space feel more open and spacious – which is so important when you are getting ready with a large wedding party.
In the heart of Salem, on Essex street, it is only about a 10-15 minute walk from the commuter rail. It is also right around the corn form the historic Old Town Hall, a popular location for couples portraits or first look.
The lobby is a very retro bar with so much natural light pouring in that it makes it a great spot for additional photos if the weather outside is less than ideal. They also have a large rooftop bar which is the only restaurant that has a skyline view of the city.
Hotel Salem also has wedding packages, so you can stay and get married in the same location. Which makes it very convenient, especially in the hustle and bustle of tourist season.
Room rates start at $124 a night but could go up depending on when you are booking.
Salem Waterfront Hotel located on the harbor in the Waterfront district, this hotel is withing walking distance of the Salem Maritime National Historic Site. Not only do they offer accommodations, but they also have hotel packages and offer outdoor ceremonies. For their ceremony and reception space can accommodate 220 guests so this is an ideal location if you have a larger guest list.
Room rates start at $129 a night but could go up depending on when you are booking.
The Hawthorn Hotel on Congress Street is one of our go-to hotels for larger and more traditional weddings because they are also a premier Wedding Venue. So you and your guests can all get ready under one roof and just walk downstairs to the Banquet Hall. They have an additional event space upstairs where they hold their cocktail hours while they flip the ceremony space into the reception.
Hawthorn Hotel is right next to Salem Common, so it is very convenient for your couples wedding party photos. Inside the hotel, they have an antique elevator that is stunning and a prime spot for couples to pose for additional photos.
Room rates start at $149 a night but could go up depending on when you are booking.
The Merchant is a boutique hotel located on Washington street. In its past life, the building used to be a rare book store, a tavern and an office building. This boutique hotel not only offers stunning interior design. All of the rooms are unique and painted with history. In 1789, President George Washinton himself stayed at the Merchant while visiting Salem. The room which he occupied is now called the George Washington King Deluxe.
Room rates start at $224 a night but could go up depending on when you are booking.
The Coach House is a luxury boutique that is off the beaten path of downtown historic Salem. Originally established in 1879, it was recently renovated in 2022 and offers stunning black and white chic interior design.
Coach House is located on Lafayette Street and is about a mile from downtown.
Room rates start at $213 a night but could go up depending on when you are booking.
The Hampton Inn Salem is a great place to stay in Salem if you are looking for somewhere convenient and affordable. They have access to a parking garage which is $22 for valet, per room per night.
It is a 10 minute walk from the commuter rail and the heart of the city, making an ideal spot if you are visiting in October with heightened crowds and traffic.
