Last week Brett, Angela and I drove to Plum Island to for a sunrise photo session. We knew we wouldn’t make it for sunrise, because we had a little bit of a drive before hand and decided to prioritize our sleep instead of waking up by 5. Instead we ended up leaving around 7. Even though the sun had risen an hour or so before we even got there, the light was still a soft and golden, making it the perfect lighting.
That is what I love about sunrise sessions though. Even if you miss the actual rising of the sun, it is still a very beautiful experience. As an early bird, I’ve always prefers sunrise to sunsets, though I don’t take the time to enjoy either of them as I should. I have always been an early bird. I naturally wake up early without an alarm. My brain is also more alert and focused first thing in the morning than later in the afternoon or evening.
Another reason I love sunrise sessions so much, and not just because I’m already awake, is you can go to popular locations and they wont be as crowded. We had originally planned a different beach for these photos, but had to readjust due to unforeseen circumstances. There was one lady walking her dog on this beach, so that made it easy to crop her out of the images.
After our session we treated ourselves out to some brunch at a local cafe, even though they weren’t our first choice, they still had some fresh coffee that hit the spot. I hope you enjoy these photos from their sunrise photo session at Plum Island!
